Before my shoot with Lucy for a Bob Hope TV Special, I was in a diner, where my waitress asked if I could get an autograph from Lucy for her mother who was in the hospital. After I took this photo, I approached Lucy backstage. Lucy, tired from a full day’s work, hesitated, until I told her about the waitress’s mother in the hospital. Lucy kindly replied, “Of course I’ll do it.” I returned to the diner and handed the autograph to the waitress. She was so moved, she broke down in tears, and all the other waitresses hugged her. I can't look at this photo without thinking about the story that goes with it.
